Adventure and Love

A couple days ago marked the one-month anniversary of being married to my best friend.  Two years ago, I remember crying in the back of a church parking lot with my best friend.  It was the day I was supposed to get married to someone else.  The engagement had fallen through and I had made some bad choices along the way.  I found myself in a giant mess trying to piece my heart back together.  I felt like I couldn’t hear from God and my dream of getting married and starting a family laid shattered on the floor.

I had visited that particular church that morning with my best friend.  Little did I know my husband was in the room at that exact moment.  I wouldn’t meet him that day, but it wouldn’t be too long from then.  Little did I know that 8 months later, I would be offered a job serving in ministry at that same church.  Little did I know that life was about to turn around and that God’s love, goodness and faithfulness were on the move.  What started out as the worst thing that ever happened to me led me to the man I’ll spend forever with.  God is good!

God has exceeded my expectations.  Through our relationship, God has given me a more complete picture of what true love looks like.  I have learned what its like to be fully known, even with my flaws and imperfections, and yet be fully loved.  I have gained a teammate and a partner, someone to laugh with and a shoulder to cry on.

I see the faithfulness of God.  I realize that he allowed me to be broken so that I could let go of what he never meant for me and experience the fullness of what he had in store.  With our vows and our marriage covenant, we have embarked on a new adventure.  I know the journey will have ups and downs and twists and turns for sure.  I know this journey will require us to examine our hearts in new ways, challenge us and cause us to grow.  There are so many exciting things in store.  And I am blessed beyond anything I could have hoped for to know God picked the perfect partner for me.

Every day I get to spend with him is a blessing.

Here’s to many more days on this journey together and a life filled with adventure and love.
